Our love story began in the Summer of 2014. Although we were both medical students at the University of Kansas, Sterling was going into his 2nd year and Sarafina was going into her 3rd year, so our paths hadn't quite crossed yet. But thankfully for technology, a simple swipe right is what started it all. Sterling sent Sarafina a message thanking her for sending him and his classmates an email with advice prior to them starting medical school. They began to talk more and then one day Sterling asked Sarafina out on a date to the Nelson Atkins Museum. They had spent the evening hanging out with each other on the museum lawn and playing frisbee with Sterling's sweet black lab dog, Dude. They stayed and talked until dark and laid under the stars. From that moment on they became closer and closer and Sterling asked Sarafina to be his girlfriend the day before her birthday on September 3rd, 2014. Since then they have been through a lot- nearly 4 years of long distance as they pursued their medical training at different places across the country. But as they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder. But 4 years is long enough! Sarafina will be moving back to Kansas City this July. 

On October 27th 2018, Sarafina had planned a Murder Mystery party for Sterling as a belated birthday celebration. Little did she know, he was also planning a surprise for her. He cleverly used the clues of the game to ultimately lead to her finding him down on one knee asking to spend the rest of their lives together. After a postponed wedding due to COVID19, here we are today! Excited to start our life together and so happy that you are joining us!
